School Anniversary

Dear all,

[ LEARNING POINTS OF THE DAY ]

- The Japanese Occupation had a largely negative effect on the people of Singapore. We remember the event as part of our roots, our history and lessons to improve future generations.

- Dictation Test Unit 4 Tomorrow. Please study hard!

I am heartened to see that for today, ALL of you have brought your social studies and english textbook. It is a much better improvement. Please keep it up consistently. Clas spirit is important and I want to see each and everyone of you motivating one another to regularly bring your materals for the lessons. Check your timetable regularly!

Please continue to work hard this term and treat your work seriously. One serious issue which I still observe is that many of you still tend to do your own work when the teacher is at the front explaining the lesson. It applies to all the lessons. Please give your 100%. The moment you read out the rules before each lesson of mine, you have already promised to give your best and listen attentively. Group points or not, make it a habit to stay focused and listen attentively. It is all for you! This aspect needs alot of practising and working on.

If you all can achieve 100% bringing your books, I am sure with time, we can also achieve 100% attention! Don't let me down!

Tomorrow, we celebrte our school's 27th anniversary with a mass and series of celebrations in the hall. Remember, we respect and be on our best behaviour in the hall.

As mentioned, there are changes to the class library. Here are the changes listed out.

1. Each pupils will borrow a book from the class library from either one of the english monitors.

2. English monitors will keep track of the books and you will sign out on the record list the book you borrowed and the date you borrowed it out. This is to ensure a proper system of keeping track of the books and for me to keep track how many books you have each read.

3. I am going to make the borrowing period of a book at 1 month. This is to encourage you to read the book with QUALITY. You should read it seriously and look out for vocabulary and composition writing ideas. Books are useful tools together with newspaper articles.

Next Friday, we will begin with the first group, Anselm's group, to present their newspaper article.

Remember, I want to encourage all members of the group to practise on their confidence by presenting their article. Just a simple short presenation that focuses on the MAIN POINTS OF THE ARTICLE and NEW VOCABULARY WORDS (with the given meanings) for the class to learn about.

Newspaper articles help us to learn about the current knowlege in the world to keep us updated and also to help us pick up good english tips.
