Term 2 Week 1

Dear all,

The new timetable as promised. Do remember to bring your books and check your timetable everyday.

It is disappointing when half of the class did not finish / bring their composition Unit 3 for submission today. Please please work on submitting your work on time as these work need to be marked and returned to you on time. By practising, you will improve. So do take pride in your work and do your best.

[TODAY'S LEARNING POINTS]

- In English, we learned about great explorers who are people who travel the world in exploration of new ideas, artefacts, countries and people. Marco Polo is one good example who travelled from Italy to Asia in exploration.

- Sequencing is important in writing your composition and understanding passages. There must a flow of sequences. Another good example is the use of a timeline to represent the life of an individual.

- For Science, we are introduced to the topic of 'Reproduction in Humans'. We learned that living things reproduce to ensure continuity of their own kind. Internal fertilization takes place in the female for a baby to be produced and then given birth.

- Humans do not go through pollination. Babies are created when the sperm cell from the male fuses with the egg cell of the female.

- The umbilical cord helps to provide nutrients and oxygen from the mother to the baby and it also removes waste from the baby through the mother.

[REMINDERS]

- Hand up your composition homework together with the planning worksheet and your draft.

- Bring your science workbook on cycles and bring your missing worksheets to be filed in your english and science files.

Dear Parents,

I have told the students about the seriousness and importance of studying the topic 'Reproduction in Humans'. Please do not be alarmed if they do talk about the topic or ask questions about it. Do help to guide them and educate them at home. At no times, should they be making fun or passing rude comments about the topic of certain terms associated with human reproduction. I have already talked to the students and warned them. As such, if they are caught making fun or passing rude comments, I will deal with the students severely. I hope to seek your understanding and cooperation in this matter.

Thank You,
Sincerely,
Mr. Nelson Ong
