Dear all,
Welcome back to the start of term 3 officially. It is definitely great seeing all of you back again. As promised, here is the upload of the latest timetable for now.
Do log into your lead.com.sg portal to check your updated revision work for the various subjects and attempt them.
Phototaking is on this Thursday. Please come in your school uniform.
For a start, we went through the skills to writing a good composition today and here is a recap:
General:
- Build your characters (Who are they? Jobs? Description of physical appearance and feeling. Actions by your characters and the motives behind the actions)
- Describe the actions of the various characters, their feelings and why they do what they do.
- Place, time, weather
- Introduce the characters.
- Set the tone for the main body. Link your story and explain.
- What is happening? Describe the main event(s) that is happening. What about it? The impact and seriousness of the main actions. e.g If a fire is taking place describe the fire and the impact of the fire. Give physical descriptions. Do not just talk about 'A fire broke out.' and stop at it.
- Why did the event happen? Who caused the event? Talk about the perspectives of the characters involved. e.g I will describe the victims in the fire and also talk about the people responsible for the fire.
- How was the problem solved? Who solved it? Why did they need to solve it?
- Feelings of the characters involved. Why they feel that way?
- Any lessons to be learnt?
- Not giving names and roles of the characters. Who are they?
- Failing to link your main events to the conclusion. How was the problem resolved? Explain clearly.
- Not enough explanation in the events described. Why did it happen? How did it happen? Who did it?
- We went through the S.E.E booklet. Once again, I need to stress the importance of knowing the concepts to answer the questions. From a concept, we can use it to identify answers.
- Today's main concept focuses on condensation and the acronym of 'WCCW' (Warm water vapour condenses on a cool surface and turns into water droplets)
This video helps to recap about water cycle as a form of revision for you.
See you all tomorrow,
Ready for the battle ahead :)
Rest well,
Sincerely,
Mr Nelson Ong
