The end of SA1

Dear all,

You have come to the end of your SA1. However, the hard work has not ended just yet. It has only begun. Based on your results, it is time to start planning and adjusting your studying and revision effort in order to close the gap and pass / score better.

The English paper is no doubt difficult. I do not fault you for not being able to pass. However, you should not be scoring too low. There is alot of careless mistakes and mistakes that are being made despite me going through the skills with you. It is indeed disappointing to see so many of you failing to do well for the questions I have gone through with you so many times.

The effort you have made in planning through the pre-reading thinking activity is indeed commendable. I see a larger portion of you making the effort to plan and write down. Continue to use this method and don't give up! Check for your tenses please! A major error for your comprehension open-ended.

Breakdown of English SA1

Oral /30
Listening /20
Paper 1 /55
Paper 2 /95

Total: /200 which will then be rounded to 100%

Oral and paper 1 results are not in yet and will only be known next week.

On to better news, MUCH improvement in your Science as compared to CA1. This time around, the standard is slightly easier although it is still a somewhat difficult paper, especially for open-ended. If you have been following my tips and revision, you should at least get a pass!

When I look back at this term, your behaviour is much better as compared to last term. But, you need to really focus when I am going through practice papers. I do notice that most of you tend to drift off and start talking among yourselves. Thus, you will not be able to catch the important pointers that I give to you. There is only 1 term left and you need to focus and really work for it. Better focus next term is needed. I need to get my best term out of all of you next term. Make it the best term for me and do the very best you can do.

Dear Parents and All Students,

You would have gotten your PSLE intructions booklet. Please look through and familiarize yourself. If there are any questions, please ask me. Bring it on Monday. I will go through in greater details. Also, there will be a secondary talk as stated in the letters given out to you. Do go through and make your best effort to attend. It is time to start planning for your secondary school choice. Log onto the e-career portal and if you are unable to do so, please INFORM ME on MONDAY so that I can make the necessary arrangements for you. There are a few open houses from the various secondary schools. Please look them up at the notice board and if interested, get your parents to research and visit the secondary schools for the open houses.

Also, please bear in mind what I encouraged you the other day. You must be sensible to work hard and know what you want. Lately, there have been a couple of bad peer influences. I have heard of cases of friends asking friends not to study and just play because this is what they do at home. You should know better than to trust others willingly. When it comes to studies, it is ultimately you, yourself, taking the papers. You do not know if you friends are tricking you and for all you know, they might be busy studying hard at home. In the end, if you choose not to study, you will suffer. We cannot stop people from saying certain things, but you need to know right from wrong and choose your friends wisely. There are certain students in class whom I am disappointed with for leading your friends astray. You need to set a good example and influence your friends in the correct manner. Parents, do talk through with your kids and understand more about the friends they are making in school. Advise them on positive influences and working hard together rather than going astray. Motivate yourself!

My rules still apply even though I might not go through them daily in class.
RULE #1 We are a family! Let's do this together!!!
RULE #5 Do your best in everything you do! Study hard! and be the BEST person you can be.
